Come and join us for a fun filled day of fishing! This day is set aside for kids the ages of 5 years old to 15 years old. We will be having a fishing clinic in the morning and fishing tournament in the afternoon. There will be prizes given away throughout the day. All participants must have an adult with them, provide their own fishing equipment, provide their own lunch and should wear sturdy shoes to wade in the creek with. Shelton Vineyards--Dobson--The fifth annual Yadkin Valley Wheelin’ Sportsmen Catfish Roundup, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. This free event is open to any disabled angler with a desire to enjoy a day of fishing at a beautiful venue. Fishing tackle, bait, refreshments and lunch will be provided free to the anglers and plenty of volunteers will be on hand to assist in any way needed. Wheelin’ Sportsmen is one of the many outreach programs undertaken by the National Wild Turkey Federation headquartered in Edgefield, SC. The organization specializes in providing safe and fun outdoor opportunities for the mobility disabled and has touched tens of thousands of lives since its inception. Shelton Vineyards is the perfect place to hold such an event because of the “beautiful grounds and a paved walking path" that makes wheelchair accessibility very easy. 400-500 people are expected to attend this year’s event and the pond has been supplemented with catfish just for the occasion. "Reflect on Our Proud Past:" Agricultural and Rural Traditions in North Carolina's Northwest Piedmont. This event will focus on agricultural and rural traditions and skills found on a typical family farm in North Carolina's northwest Piedmont region at the turn-of-the-20th century. A variety of agricultural demonstrations will be featured as well as rare and endangered breeds of farm animals. Artist and vendor booths will present such items as natural soaps, organic and heirloom fruits and vegetables, basket making, pottery, and handmade toys and crafts. You are invited to The Yadkin River Wine Trail Festivals of 2010, a series of five wine festivals showcasing the wines of the five Yadkin River Wine Trail vineyards.
